COgnitive modes, Social MOtives and PROsocial BEhavior

A project financed by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research (PRIN 2017)

RESEARCH QUESTION

We bring together a variety of competences and methods to address the following research question:

How can we operate through cognition to foster prosocial behavior?

HYPOTHESIS

We start from the hypothesis that:

  • social motives are the main drivers of prosocial behavior;

  • different cognitive modes activate different types of social motives.

ANALYSIS

Research methods involve:

  • theoretical analysis based on evolutionary models;

  • empirical analysis, based on lab, online and field experiments.
